Verrey's Café & Kitchen in Broadstairs is owned and run by husband and wife team Phil and Debra Earl. Keen cook Debra has always wanted to run a café serving nourishing exciting food and they both dreamed of living by the sea. After leaving office jobs and London behind, they took the reins at Verreys in early 2016 and haven't looked back.
"I love contemporary healthy-eating dishes while Phil's a fan of traditional favourites so we sometimes struggle to agree on places to eat out. We figure we can't be the only ones!
So at Verrey's we create interesting and varied menus to offer everyone something that makes them say 'Ooh I want THAT!'. Enjoyable eating is all about balance as well as pleasure, and we hope you find both here."
Verreys is taken from the renowned London restaurant which opened in the 1850s and was a favourite haunt of Charles Dickens, Broadstairs' most famous former resident. Disraeli and Edward VII also visited and the venue stayed popular well into the 1960s when London Palladium performers including Norman Wisdom would pop in after their appearances.
